About the Recipe

You'll love these bold flavors. Rich, robust, and delicious, this Easy Osso Bucco is a simple but elegant meal that comes together in one pot.

Ingredients

  • 2 wagyu beef shanks

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 1 carrot

  • 1 stalk celery

  • 4 cloves garlic

  • 2 tbsp lemon, zest

  • 1 onion

  • 2 tbsp parsley, fresh

  • 2 sprigs thyme

  • 4 cups beef stock

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 salt and pepper

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 cup red wine, dry

Preparation

  1. Lightly coat beef shanks with flour. Add butter into a large skillet over medium to medium-high heat.

  2. Brown the beef shanks then remove to a bowl, and keep warm. Add four cloves of crushed garlic and onion to the skillet; cook until onion is tender.

  3. Return the beef to the pan and mix in the carrot and red wine. Simmer for 10 minutes.

  4. Pour in beef stock and tomato paste, and season with salt and pepper. Cover, and simmer over low heat for 4 hours, basting the beef every 15 minutes or so. The meat should be tender, but not falling off the bone.
